Four decades ago FN Herstal embarked on a new product line. Rather than just produce machine guns, the company began to integrate them on pintles or in pods for use on a wide range of subsonic aircraft and helicopters.
FN Herstal airborne weapon systems are designed around FN machine guns (FN MAG® and world exclusive FN® M3M) to guarantee full mission capability while ensuring protection for the carrier and maximum safety for the crew.
Rather than just designing and producing the complete system, FN Herstal also takes care of the integration, within the context of the platform mission, which requires a deep understanding of the weapons and their effects on the rotary-wing applications. To achieve this, the company collaborates closely with both the operational end users and OEMs.
Over 4,500 FN Herstal airborne systems – either fixed forward or crew served – equip a wide range of helicopters and subsonic aircraft across the world.
