Airborne Flex-Fire Weapon System
From Crew-Served to Fixed-Forward in Minutes
Allowing the armament configuration of helicopters to be easily adapted for specific mission requirements greatly enhances their combat capability.
The FN® Flex fire system is a highly innovative weapon mounting solution for helicopters that can easily be configured for pilot-operated fixed forward-firing, or as a lateral firing crew-served system, providing effective suppressive fire over a wide arc. The flexibility of the system extends to the weapons, it can carry either the GAU-21 (FN M3M) or GAU-18/A .50 caliber machine guns, or the 7.62mm M134 minigun, making it highly effective against personnel and vehicles on the ground, and aerial threats. The reduced internal footprint leaves more space for crew, passengers and mission stores in the cabin.
The system is available in left-hand side and right-hand side configurations, and with dedicated weapon-specific fire control systems and ammunition boxes for each caliber.
As proof that FN Herstal’s airborne weapon systems continue to be chosen by the most demanding end users and leading aircraft manufacturers, the FN® EMGS is being supplied to Sikorsky for the US Airforce’s new HH-60W Jolly Green II combat rescue helicopter.
