Towards a common European architecture for precision-guided effectors

MARSEUS is a European Defence Fund (EDF) project aiming to develop a modular and open architecture for next-generation ground-launched munitions. It enhances connectivity, safety and interoperability across EU member states. Led by MBDA France, the project brings together 19 partners across 10 countries to future-proof European land combat capabilities through standardised digital interfaces and scalable autonomy.

E-CUAS

Building an interoperable, modular and sovereign defence against drone threats

The E-CUAS project aims to develop a common European system to detect, track and neutralise unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Modular and interoperable by design, E-CUAS provides scalable solutions for fixed, mobile and deployable operations. Led by Leonardo, it brings together 24 partners from 12 countries to strengthen European resilience against unmanned aerial threats.

Defining the architecture for next-generation armoured land combat systems

MARTE is a European Defence Fund initiative focused on shaping the future of European Main Battle Tanks. The project brings together 19 partners from 9 countries to define a modular, scalable and interoperable MBT architecture. It aims to integrate advanced mobility, protection, firepower and digital backbone to meet tomorrow’s high-intensity battlefield needs — paving the way for a next-generation European land combat platform.

ACHILE

Highly Innovative solutions for a next generation Dismounted Soldier System.

The ACHILE project aims to develop highly innovative solutions in view of the next generation Dismounted Soldier System by specifying, designing and demonstrating the benefits of open system architecture based on GOSSRA and promising disruptive technologies improving survivability, sustainability, mobility and indeed lethality under the leadership of FN
The project is led by Safran Electronics and Defense with a consortium of 27 partners originating from 10  countries.

SAAT

Enhancing interoperability and strategic autonomy through collaborative innovation

The SAAT (Small Arms Ammunition Technologies) project, coordinated by FN Herstal, brings together 18 partners from nine European countries. Its goal: to define common standards for small arms ammunition, ensuring performance, safety and compatibility across EU forces. SAAT paves the way for greater effectiveness against evolving threats while reinforcing European defence sovereignty.

Designing modular and interoperable combat ground platforms for EU forces

CUGS aims to develop new-generation robotic ground systems to support combat operations. Modular, scalable and AI-enhanced, these systems are designed for high-threat environments, enabling operational autonomy, manned-unmanned teaming and reduced troop exposure. The project supports EU-wide cooperation to define common standards and architectures for future land combat robotics.
